Trends that happened yesterday and tomorrow

You know what's crappy about music these days? It sucks.

I was thinking back to the 90's and the several 'one hit wonders' that have historically changed peoples lives. I'm not talking about waking up one morning with a new identity and a new persona, but more of a feeling to relate. I admire the 'one hit wonders' more than I do with the new bands and crap coming out these days. You know what puzzles me? It's the fact that I can fall asleep over night and 234234908 bands are emerging the next morning. These few songs, these one hit wonders... you can remember them for a lifetime, you can piece them together in a time scale. What goes to show for all these new 'artists' being born each morning? That they have a catchy tune and depressing lyrics? What is it that people relate to these days? What happened to meaningful lyrics and old fashioned instrument dabbling of sorts? You know what I enjoy most out of these precious songs? It's the fact that they work very hard for perfection. I admire these artists for the sheer fact of creating an art peice, a single demontration of talent rolled up in one ball. Sure.. maybe they don't release multiple albums with multiple hit songs, but would you really want that? It's like painting the same picture several times and then expecting the same type of reaction. My point wasn't merely aimed at one hit wonders or anything for that matter, but just that music in its entirety has changed over the past decade or more. Now it's all about creating a catchy tune with lyrics that are stringed together by the worldly population. These days, it's all about finding the right words to fit people as one whole instead of directly; it's completely impersonal. What's sad is that people eat this up like the next best thing.. of course, until the next best thing - tomorrow morning.

I could probably go on and on about this but... I've really got to get some sleep. Who am I kidding?

It goes on about fashion statements and identity relief these days. Hell.. now all I have to do is wear chucks and listen to this shit in order to remain in 'the scene.' I know way too many people that try too hard and wear thier clothes to make a statement. It's all about proving a point and showing face. What ever happened to becoming the music instead of the music becoming you? I mean, if i listen to this stuff, does it mean I then have to dress like it? It's almost like the people want to wear the music on their skin. It doesn't sound as bad as it looks, but it is. If I listen to 80's music all the time, should I then feel the need to start wearing head bands and tights to prove a point? No.

Music is to relate to... not to become...

Anyhow, that's pretty much it for now..... until next time, of course - tomorrow morning.
